Indiana Revolutionary War Graves [Indiana Society SAR] This site has a separate HTML file listing the name, birth/death dates, service record, family, and gravesite for each of several hundred patriots buried in Indiana.

Kentucky  

At the end of the French and Indian War France ceded this area to England. Settlers who came from Virginia and North Carolina participated in the American Revolution, but this area did not become a state until 1792. For rosters with troops from this area, see Virginia and North Carolina.

Louisiana  

Louisiana was not part of the British colonies, but many residents were involved in the Spanish military and financial support of the United States after Spain declared war on Great Britain. They are listed in the page on Spanish participants

Maine  

In 1776 this area was part of Massachusetts, so see that state's listing also.

Soldiers, Sailors, and Patriots of the Revolutionary War -- Maine, by C.E. Fisher and S.G. Fisher (National Society SAR, Louisville KY, 1982) This may be purchased from the Sons of the American Revolution. Look under the "For Members" / "Merchandise Department" link. Over 900 pages of data on the area of what is now the state of Maine. It includes all who served in the military during the war, all in the military who moved here after the war, and all elected to town or other public office during the war. All items include reference to the original source document. See also Supplement to [ditto], by C.E. Fisher (Picton Press, Rockport ME, 1998).

Maryland  

Note: Since the boundary between Delaware and Maryland had changed several times and was not well-established at the time of the Revolution people who lived near the border may be found in the records of either or both of the states.

Maryland Continentals:
Officer Casualties at Camden SC 1780 Aug 16 has surname and rank for 46 officers from DE, MD, and VA.

Archives of Maryland allows you to search most of the volumes of Archives of Maryland for particular text (or a name). There is also an
alphabetic index to the muster rolls

The bibliography [/battleofcamden.org] for the Battle of Camden SC on August 16, 1780 has references to documentation of service and
a roster database for the soldiers from many states (both sides) and Great Britain who fought here.

Military Records: Revolutionary Patriots, MD & DE 1775-1783, by Henry Peden (CD #133 from Family Tree Maker, 1997) is a compilation of 99,000 names of patriots in the military units of Maryland (militia and Continentals) and patriots recognized or compensated for nonmilitary contributions to the cause of liberty. These were originally published in a series covering many counties of Maryland (see below). Each patriot's paragraph combines information from the Maryland Archives with vital records to give additional information about marriage, death, and residency of the patriot. The print publications are titled Revolutionary War Patriots of XXX 1775-1783, by H.C. Peden, Jr. (Family Line Publ., Westminster, MD various dates) where XXX is the name of a county. Eleven counties have been completed: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's, Queen Anne, and St. Mary.

Massachusetts  

In 1776 Massachusetts included the area that is now Maine.

Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the War of Revolution, 17 volumes ed. H.P. Johnston (Wright and Potter Printing Co., 1896), lists 176,452 records of service for residents of Massachusetts, with some from surrounding states and Canada who served in Massachusetts units.
Ancestry.com has (for subscribers) a searchable database. Click on the Ancestry Search tab, then copy the title above and paste it into the search box. Then search for the patriot's name. When you find the record you can click on "Full Context" to get a transcripion of the page on which the search name appears. (Print this to document an application.) Ancestry no longer provides images of the original pages.
